Logs and files

Every MVR import and export leaves a record. Inside a scene, the Logs menu lists them; in the Explorer, a project's Files tab holds the files themselves, next to anything you attached.

Logs

Logs › Show logs… lists everything this scene has read in and written out, newest first, grouped by what produced it. Each entry can be downloaded at any time.

Logs of a scene with three exports

It is its own menu on purpose. The log people come back for — an import log, days later, because whoever exported the file has asked what was wrong — must not be buried.

  • An import log says what happened to every fixture and why. It is the thing to send back to whoever exported the file.

  • An export log says what the archive could not carry: a fixture with no GDTF behind it, a truss with no mesh, the layers that were left out. It goes with the file you hand on.

Neither is an error report.

  • ⚠ An export log outlives its archive. It is written from the record, not stored as a file, so it is there for an export whose .mvr has been deleted, and for one that failed and produced no file at all.

  • ⚠ An import log can go missing, because it is a file. If it has been deleted or the server's storage was cleared, the import is still listed, marked not on the server, with no download.

Files

The Explorer's Files tab lists a project's files.

A project's files: one import log, two exports
Exports
Every MVR exported from a scene in the project.
Imports
The log of every MVR import.
Attachments
Anything somebody uploaded — a rider, a stage plot, a venue drawing — up to 200 MB a file.
Renderings, Diagnostics
There, and empty for now.
  • ⚠ "Imports" holds the import's log, not the MVR you uploaded. FlexViz does not keep somebody else's show file after reading it. The log names the file and its checksum, so "the file you sent me" still has an answer.

  • Select a scene in the Explorer and the tab shows that scene's files only; the path above the list leads back to the whole project. Files not tied to a scene say Project in the Scene column.

  • Search by name, filter by category, and Download, Details or Delete each file. Nothing here opens a scene.

  • Deleting an export or a log removes the file only. The scene stays as it is, and the export or import is still in the scene's Logs, without its file. In the export dialog, the row then reads file gone.

  • ⚠ A failed export is not listed — it wrote no file. A failed import's log is.

  • Upload attachment adds a file to the project, or to the selected scene. Attaching an MVR does not import it; importing is File › Import › MVR… in an empty scene.

  • Release for project knowledge, in an attachment's details and off by default, records permission for the file's contents to be read later to answer questions about the project. Nothing reads files yet; switching it on today changes nothing but the record of your consent.

Everyone who can see the project can see and download its files. Editors upload and delete.
