Settings and where they live
FlexViz keeps settings in three places, and where a setting lives decides who it affects. The plan checks read theirs from the project, so everyone sees the same problems.
- Project
- Shared with everyone on the project and applied to every scene in it. Universes in use, floating fixture threshold, fixture clearance margin.
- Scene
- The rig itself: fixtures, patch, truss, layers, positions. Travels with the scene and goes out in an MVR.
- This computer
- Grid, working light, render quality, and a remembered graphics failure. Marked This computer only. Does not travel with the show.
Project settings
Open them with the gear in the header, or File › Project settings…. The General tab holds what the plan checks use:
Universes in use — the universes the show has. Empty switches the check off. See Universes.
Floating fixture threshold — how high an unattached fixture must be before it is reported, 0 to 1 m, 0.10 m to start with. See Floating fixtures.
Fixture clearance margin — working room between fixtures on top of their geometry, 0 to 0.5 m, 0.10 m to start with. See Movement clearance.
⚠ These are shared on purpose. If the thresholds were per browser, two people looking at the same rig could get different problem lists, and "no errors" would depend on whose laptop it was. The dialog says so at the top: Shared with everyone on this project, and with every scene in it.
Anyone who can edit the project can change them; with read-only access you see the values but cannot save. The other tabs are Details, Team (administrators only) and Activity.
The scene
The rig is the scene: what is placed, where, how it is patched and organised. It is what the plan checks look at, and it is what an MVR export writes out.
This computer
Grid, working light and render quality are set per computer. They change how the rig looks on your screen, not what it is, so they stay out of the project. Two people can have different ones for the same rig, and neither affects the other. The venue size is one of these too, which is why FlexViz does not check whether a fixture is "outside the stage".
